Dust and Memories....

Running. From one end of the city to the other. Its one way to keep fit and by golly, before midnight, she was ready to collapse into exhaustion at her father's feet. To curl up and just pass out.

The morning brings the light through the window slates, just barely turned to let it through into the room, her body sprawled yet twisted sideways on her bed and staring sleepily at the dust motes dancing in the sunbeams. A smile touches the demon's lips for some reason, a memory of doing this when she was still a faeish child, watching them dip and dance about in the warm beams that she'd sit in as the light come through her window, trying to warm up in the orphanage's large bedroom she'd shared with other girls around her age when she was a child..Nerissa sighs and turns away, the silver mane covering her face spreading out in a fan over her covers as she lays onto her back.

It leaves her feeling the life as it shifts and she lies there, just experiencing it in awe, the quickening. Wondering. Scared..yes..she was very scared. So deep in thought on this new experience she jumps as suddenly her music box begins to play, reacting to her worries instantly. The large shiny black eyes glisten when they turn to the box carved of bone and smiles for a moment until it reminds her of last night's occurrences...the blazing building and the frantic screaming of Moni when she thought her son was inside.

The damn Alley cats..if they had only just kept minding their own business and not gotten stupid again. Not tried to put her uncle into a meat grinder..none of it would of happened. The battle wouldn't of torn through the street, the Alley Queen wouldn't of been captured and taken to one of the planes of Hell to teach her a lesson for her treachery.....Father wouldn't of set explosives on the building and told Moni her baby was still inside to put fear into her for their mistakes...

The demon sighs and covers her eyes to try and block it out as tears streamed down her face and the then the bed shifts, her body leaning towards a heavy weight on her right before heat surrounds her as she's scooped up into a set of powerful arms and held tight. She didn't need to open her eyes to know the heady scent of her father holding her and she buries her wet face into his chest as his large clawed hand strokes down between her tiny wings soothingly, holding her tight to his chest to ease her back into sleep once more, right in his arms.
